Kentucky Marbled Godwit

A photograph of a marbled godwit takes flight from a sandbar in Kentucky Bend. This bird is one of the first records of marbled godwit in Kentucky from June. Nikon D4 with AFS Nikkor 70-200mm f/2.8 VRII.

It is pretty rare that I stumble across a rare bird.  Fortunately for me, I stumbled across a marbled godwit in on a sandbar in the Mississippi River this June.  Fortunately I was able to grab the camera for a few weak shots of the birds flying away.  Not great shots, but good enough for this unusual record.

The marbled godwit cruises by our boat on his way toward Tennessee. Nikon D4 with AFS Nikkor 70-200mm f/2.8 VRII.
